AIDS Center of Queens County, Inc (ACQC) was founded in October 1986 to provide direct services to residents of Queens living with HIV/AIDS and to educate the community about the virus. ACQC is largest borough-wide, community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. We maintain nine offices throughout the borough easily accessible by public transportation in Jamaica, Far Rockaway and Long Island City. Each month, our dedicated core of staff and volunteers provide comprehensive services to more than 7,800 program participants, and to over 20,000 clients when including family members.
* Educational outreach conducted through formal presentations, prevention workshops, in-service training, street outreach and distribution of education materials
* Peer Education training
* Numerous ongoing support groups for people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS in English and in Spanish
* Individual therapy and psychiatric assessments and medication management for adults and adolescents
* Couples and Family therapy
* On-site HIV counseling and testing services
* Case management services including assistance in obtaining benefits/entitlements, and crisis intervention
* Prevention Case Management
* Scattered Site Housing
* Housing Placement Assistance and Independent Living Skills Training Programs
* Legal consultation on a wide range of legal matters including permanency planning, entitlements, landlord/tenant issues, debt management, family law, immigration, discrimination, and insurance. A wills clinic offers wills, health care proxies and medical directives, durable powers of attorney and guardianship documents
* Food, clothing pantries, emergency financial assistance and transportation
* Harm Reduction services that include recreation, groups, massage therapy, acupuncture and syringe exchange
* Coordinated Medical Care
The mission of the AIDS Center of Queens County is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their families infected, affected and at risk for HIV/AIDS and other related conditions. We do this by providing comprehensive services in a non-judgmental, safe and supportive environment.
