EagleMed operates 24 aircraft in eight states across the Midwest and Eastern United States. Although the primary service area is the Central United States, the flexibility of both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft allows EagleMed to provide timely transport to anywhere in the country.
EagleMed employs over 300 registered nurses and paramedics who serve as medical flight crews, with one nurse and one paramedic serving on each mission. EagleMed has a minimum requirement of 3 years experience in the ER or ICU for Nurses, and Paramedics must have a minimum of 3 years pre-hospital experience.
EagleMed uses METI Emergency Care Simulators as part of its initial training process and recurrent training. The Emergency Care Simulator is a life-size computerized mannequin utilized for clinical skill set training from basic airway management to high level advanced procedures. The simulator provides the ability to approach training from a scenario-based situation through the aspects of critical thinking and hands-on critical patient care. EagleMed also developed a CAMTS approved Advanced Course in Trauma Transport (ACTT) training program to further enhance the high level of training for their medical crews.
Medical direction for EagleMed is provided by 5 medical directors located in states served by the company. EagleMed medical directors work together to develop the company's medical protocols and to ensure the medical crews are in compliance with the medical regulations. They also provide the final level of the quality assurance process with 100 percent clinical chart reviews. EagleMed has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) since 2000.
