Dr. Eugene Hong is a primary care sports medicine physician. He is board certified in both sports medicine and family medicine.

Dr. Hong enjoys working with active people of all ages and abilities at all levels. The goals in sports medicine (as well as health care) focus on restoring function, maximizing function, and preserving function.

Dr. Hong’s experience includes: musculoskeletal ultrasound, both diagnostic and therapeutic; ultrasound-guided interventional procedures; platelet rich plasma; percutaneous tenotomy; viscosupplementation and hyaluronic acid injections; joint injections; tendon injections; and computerized neurocognitive testing for sports related concussions.

Dr. Hong’s professional interests include the areas of concussions, tendinopathy, and tendinosis; injury prevention; acute and chronic injury and illness related to sports and exercise; exercise science; and the health and wellness of athletes of all ages and abilities.

Dr. Hong has served as a team physician for several universities and colleges, two national U.S. lacrosse teams, and a number of high schools. He has treated athletes of all ages and abilities including high school, college, professional, competitive amateur, and weekend warriors.

He currently serves on the NCAA Task Force on Mental Health in Athletes.

He has received academic and professional awards and honors, including AOA, university teaching awards, service awards from the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine, and has been named a Top Doc in Philadelphia for several years running.
