We provide a reliable, accredited Representative Payee service for recipients of Social Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI); Dept. of Veterans Affair (V.A.) benefits; Dept. of Labor Black Lung (coal miners) pensions and other types of pensions who require a payee (financial manager) to ensure their essential costs of living are covered from their benefit checks prior to any discretionary spending.
The required duties of a payee are listed as follows:
• Determine the beneficiary’s basic needs and use his or her benefits to meet those needs;
• Save any money left after meeting the beneficiary’s basic needs in a non-interest bearing account for the beneficiary's future needs;
• Report any changes or events which could affect the beneficiary’s eligibility for benefits or payment amount;
• Keep records for 2 years of all payments received and how they are spent and/or saved;
• Provide benefit information to social service agencies or medical facilities that serve the beneficiary;
• Help the beneficiary get medical transportation when necessary;
• Notify Social Security Administration (SSA) of any changes in the HBE’s circumstances that would affect performance or continuing as payee;
• Complete written accounting reports as required; and
• Return any payments to SSA which the beneficiary is not entitled to or return conserved funds if no longer serving as Representative Payee.
