Horsepower Inc. (HPI) is the leading manufacturer in the v-twin industry serving over 500 dealers in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England and Japan. It is owned and operated by Mary Jo Light. Normal business hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. In July of 2012, Horsepower opened a second location, their sister company Horsepower Indy in Indianapolis, Indiana owned and operated by Jimmy Light.
Since 2002, HPI has specialized in the manufacturing and design of high performance fuel injected components engineered to provide more power and performance. All aspects of the manufacturing and design process are completed in house on state-of-the-art machining equipment from United States material and United States labor.
HPI was the first company to manufacture an aftermarket throttle body and intake replacement for the Harley-Davidson(R) industry and has continued to lead the way in v-twin fuel injection. With their success in quality of parts and knowledge in the industry, HPI has been able to keep up with the changes of design Harley-Davidson(R) has made to their existing components, and were approached by COMP Cams(R) to manufacture all lines of their aftermarket throttle bodies for the automotive industry. COMP Cams(R) is the world's top manufacturer of performance camshafts, lifters, valve springs, rocker arms and related valve train parts for all race and street performance engines. This expanded HPI's product line to both the motorcycle and automotive industries.
HPI's key advantage over its competitors is the fact that they continue to react to changes in the fuel injection market before anyone else. They are one of the only companies to offer a throttle body for all makes and models of Harley-Davidson(R) motorcycles that fits all popular build specifications, and is also O.E.M. compatible. Their technology and quality in parts is unmatched.
HPI's employees are a key factor in the advantage of their products and they all contribute to the success of Horsepower. Eric Henderson is the head machinist, and contributes to the design and testing of new products. Kyle Layton and Mike Regan assist in the daily manufacturing and inspection process. Ian Ross is head of assembly and final inspection of the automotive division. Bryan Salisbury is HPI's hand porting specialist, which is a process only HPI uses to complete their throttle bodies for the v-twin industry. Jimmy Light, owner of the Indianapolis location, is head of sales, design process, new products, and handles all technical support with customer service. Laura Light, also at the Indianapolis location, is head of marketing and sales. Several employees are graduates from Erie County Tech School, EIT, or Penn State Behrend.
HPI is also Erie County's only certified DynoJet tuning center, offering seasonal tuning services where customer's travel all across the U.S. to schedule an appointment. They also work closely with Erie Harley-Davidson(R) as their dyno tuning center. Watch for the Indianapolis location to open their dyno spring of 2014.
Over the years they have invested tremendously in new technology to make their products better than the rest. Through new design software, multi-axis machining centers, and inspection equipment, Horsepower has excelled where others have failed.
