Don Penn, PE, CGD has been involved in the Engineering Community since 1981. He has an extensive background in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering - from Research and Development of HVAC Equipment and Systems and Energy Conservation Techniques for Commercial and Residential applications when he worked for Lone Star Gas Company to Design, Application and Testing of Custom Industrial-Commercial HVAC Equipment during his time at Alton Manufacturing. He is a Professional Mechanical and Electrical Engineer Licensed in 49 states and a Certified GeoExchange Designer.

During his early career Mr. Penn developed relationships in both the National Retail and Education market segments which he still maintains today. In order to better serve his increasing National Retail Clients, Mr. Penn started Don Penn Consulting Engineer (DPCE) in September 1991.

In 1992 Birdville ISD looked to DPCE for Engineering Support and Energy Conservation techniques. As a result DPCE became a pioneer and leader in Geothemal Heat Pump HVAC Systems and gained interest from many other education clients.

In January 2003 Image Engineering Group, Ltd. was established as a sister company to DPCE for Texas Operations - comprised mainly of its Education Facility Clients including Birdville, Grand Prairie, Frisco, Keller, Burleson and Dallas Independent School Districts.

DPCE and IEG currently have a staff of over 30 dedicated Engineers and Designers. We are unique to the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering Consulting Business in that all of our Engineers and Designers are trained to be well versed in all aspects of MEP design, thus maximizing coordination between the disciplines and efficiency in the design and delivery of our services. This methodology allows us to focus on researching and developing innovative engineering solutions while keeping our clients best interests in mind.
