The Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators Association (KWWOA) is a statewide not-for-profit association organized in the fall of 1958. The KWWOA was created by a group of operators from the drinking and wastewater industry. who gathered together in Owensboro, Kentucky and formed what is now known as the Western Chapter of the Association. As news spread across the state, other regions began to see the benefit of such an organization giving birth to the association's additional chapters. The Central Chapter formed in 1959, followed by the Eastern North Central Chapters in 1960. By 1965, the KWWOA Constitution and By-Laws were merged into a State Constitution. The KWWOA has since grown to a membership of more than 800 individuals and organizations. It has provided in excess of 100 hours of continuing educational training every year throughout the state at no additional cost to the operators. The KWWOA offers membership to all water and wastewater operators throughout the state of Kentucky. In addition, associate membership is available to engineers, manufactures, suppliers, contractors, and other individuals or entities active in water and/or wastewater industries. KWWOA is governed by a State Board comprised of six (6) board members, and two (2) voting representatives from each chapter elected to a staggered two-year term by the voting membership elected in accordance with the State By-Laws. The Board meets quarterly at various locations throughout the state to determine the direction of KWWOA and discuss issues of importance to the membership.
