This is precisely what K-Five has built its reputation on for generations. In the early part of the 20th century William J. Newman and George Krug both owned construction companies. Newman's companies worked on a majority of the caisson work downtown skyscrapers are built upon. Krug's company did extensive excavating work in the downtown area as well. The marriage of William Newman's daughter Josephine to George Krug's son George in 1941 provided the future foundation for the current owners of K-Five Construction. Today all five of Josephine and George's children are directly involved in the corporation. Originally started as a residential paving company, K-Five has grown into one of the largest unionized heavy highway paving contractors in the State of Illinois, in both government and private areas. With annual sales in excess of $100 million, K-Five Construction employs over 500 people in the height of the construction season. We have grown from a small family into a much larger and extended family reaching across the state. K-Five has understood from the beginning that the company is only as good as the people who work for the company. Each employee, from laborer to president is dedicated to working hard for the customer. All of us at K-Five Construction look forward to future challenges and obstacles in the construction industry.
