After realizing the limited amount of physical findings available to students during a Standardized Patient exam, Dr. Paul Lecat reached a level of frustration shared by medical educators everywhere. It was that frustration which led him to the development of the Ventriloscope. Since its' introduction in 2008, the Ventriloscope has proven to be a vital link in the chain of achieving realistic live patient simulation.
The importance of simulation in education has rapidly become a necessary tool for the development of professionals entering the field of medicine. In addition, integrating as many "real life" experiences into that simulation has been a constant goal of educators. Until now, it has been a daunting task to realistically mimic the necessary auscultatory findings on Standardized patients.
