In May of 1977 a small group of Hull Daisetta citizens started Hull Daisetta Volunteer Ambulance Service (HDVAS) a 501C-3 non-profit organization. In 1997 the current Board of Directors and Executive Director were put into place and started making profound changes and set a new direction for the organization. With continued growth and expansion and the volunteers becoming paid staff the Board of Directors of HDVAS elected in 1998 to change the name of the organization to Liberty County Emergency Medical Services, Inc. This name change reflected the true image of what the organization had become as well as where it was going. It is still the same 501C-3 organization that was founded in 1977. Even though the new registered name is Liberty County Emergency Medical Services, Inc., we typically go by the name of Liberty County EMS. for abbreviated purposes.
