At the heart of the company is the patented Flow Velocity Enhancement System (FVES), which uses low volumes of high-pressure water to induce a high volume content of water through a venturi eductor to create a turbulent velocity plume in the water body. This "natural" current is attractive to juvenile and adult fish, providing migrational cues or guidance to fish bypasses, nature-like fishways, or collection facilities. The FVES can prevent adult fall-back, increase attraction to ladders, enhance egress, reduce predation at surface bypass collector outfalls, and break up conflicting currents at the dam face. Conversely, the FVES current can enhance guidance away from hazardous water intakes.

NATURAL SOLUTIONS designed the FVES as a mechanism for guiding migrating juveniles and adults into a "natural" or nature-like river bypass to bypass a dam or similar barrier to fish passage. (Design and construction process is patented by NATURAL SOLUTIONS.) A silica fume-enhanced shotcrete is used to replicate bedrock in the nature-like bypass channel. We can duplicate bedrock, allowing for the formation of rapids, water falls, shelves, and undercut embankments, all in a natural contour. Resident gravels, cleaned and stockpiled during the bedrock construction process, are returned to the channel and are flushed/sorted with release of water from the reservoir. The FVES guides migrants to the "river" entrance where natural entrainment occurs.

A natural river bypass provides the optimum solution for migrating fish populations, cost-effectively, while allowing power plants to focus on power generation to the benefit of owners, rate payers, and sportsmen.
