Our Purpose

Our membership strives to advance the professions caring for the seriously ill, providing relief from pain, improving quality of life, supporting family and friends, assisting with difficult decision-making, and help in dealing with trauma, grief and loss. SWHPN is dedicated to championing best practices, research and advocacy for the palliative and hospice psychosocial and supportive care. We also work with social work professionals, schools of social work, academic resources such as the Journal of Social Work in End-of-Life and Palliative Care (JSWEOL), medical and nursing organizations and palliative care networks and other organizations to advance ties between practice, education, and research.

SWHPN serves as a member of the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care.
