Pabst Brewing Company, the largest American-owned brewery, was founded in Milwaukee in 1844. One of the most storied breweries in American history, PBC continues a legacy of quality and innovation that was instilled by its founding brewers – Frederick Pabst and Jacob Best.
Innovations introduced by these breweries include the now ubiquitous steel keg, brown bottle, metal bottle cap, aluminum cans, the six-pack, the 24 oz. "Tall Boy" can, and the first fully-integrated brewery to include brewing, bottling, cooperage and rail transport lines.
The history of the company's brands are inextricably linked with America's growth and history, as PBC was the first brewer to operate breweries on both coasts, provided beer for US troops in both World Wars, and was a critical early supporter of National Railway Administration and Works Progress Administration art programs during the Great Depression. At its peak, one out of every two beers sold was a Pabst product.
Since being acquired by the Metropoulos family in 2010, PBC has been focused on authentically growing its core brands, while revitalizing cherished national icons such as Schlitz and Old Milwaukee, as well regional favorites National Bohemian, Rainier, and Stroh's. PBC is also committed to innovation with the development of new products like the flavored, premium malt beverage "Blast by Colt 45."
As the last large, privately-owned American brewery, PBC feels a unique obligation and bond to its loyal customers. The organization is forever committed to producing genuine products that embody America's unwavering ideals
