Robinson Metal and Roofing was founded in 1975 and specialized in roofing, sheet metal fabrication and heating and cooling. The customer base consisted of companies in the paper industry, the food processing industry and various OEM's. Robinson Metal Inc. became the name of the company, and we had consistent growth in both workforce and customers throughout the 1980's leading it in the forward thinking direction the company is still taking today. The roofing division was sold to a long time employee in 1995 to enable the company to focus on it's core business and to allow for diversification into new areas that are closer to the companies expertise in sheet metal fabrication. In 1996 the company formed an assembly department to manufacture and assemble enclosures for the power generation industry. Robinson's years of experience enabled us to grow this department into it's own division in 1999, Robinson Custom Enclosures. Robinson Custom Enclosures is now internationally recognized as a premier manufacture of enclosures. The company purchased it's first laser cutting machine in 1995 enabling us to offer better service to our customers and strengthen our already enviable position in the custom sheet metal fabrication industry. A second laser was purchased three years later due to increased demand from our long time customers as well as our ever-increasing new customer base. In 1998 Robinson Metal entered the machining market to meet the demand of our customers. The machining department served as a support network for our metal fabrication division, and allowed us to keep more work in house. The demand for a one-stop shop has lead to the formation of Robinson Machine in spring 2002 as our fourth division. With the investment of new equipment, we are now able to fulfill the machining needs of our fabrication customers as well as offering this service to the wide range of machining customers. We moved into our 125, 000 square foot state of the art facility in May of 2000, with a current addition of 50, 000 square feet to be completed by January of 2008. The facility houses all divisions including manufacturing, operations, and administration. In 2007 we made investments in our future with the purchase of three new 5000-watt lasers, a new CNC Amada punch, two new vertical machining centers and three new flow water-jet machines. The company has grown into one of the premier sheet metal fabrication companies in the Midwest with 4 divisions and over 275 employees. We will continue to provide our customers with only the highest quality products, the excellent service they have come to expect, and the fair prices they demand.
