Using the resources he had, along with his pioneering spirit, Arch Simonton laid the ground work back in 1949 for a family business that would later become one of the top producing sawmills in Illinois, known today as Simonton Hardwood Lumber. He recognized the lumber needs of farmers in his rural community and built a business to provide materials for them and a livelihood for his family.

Arch passed down the sawmill and his pioneering spirit to his son, William. William (Bill) and his wife and business partner Donna integrated a vision that would prove successful in providing not only for their six children, but also for their children's children and generations to come. Bill and Donna's three sons, Kevin, Brad and Brian have also been instrumental in the success, continued growth and vitality of Simonton Hardwood Lumber, and like their father's father, they are preparing their sons for participation in the family business.
