She was a compliance manager and traveled throughout the United States, working with other divisions of Lockheed Martin and its subcontractors as a recognized specialist in compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations.

After graduating law school and passing the bar in 2001, Joanna and her husband Pat moved from Denver to Canon City, Colorado, to enjoy the smaller community environment and the beautiful landscape of Fremont County. Joanna opened her own practice in 2003 specializing in family law and estate planning.

Joanna also practices in the area of child protection, representing either parents who have had their children removed from their care or the children removed from their parents. Although this is a very difficult field, this area of law can be very rewarding whether families are reunified successfully or in serious cases parental rights are terminated. Joanna also has a very strong connection with the elderly and is very passionate about protecting them. She enjoys the outdoors and is a passionate dog and equine owner.
