Engineering
Thomas Instrument has a fully qualified staff of engineers experienced in all phases of support for mature military flight hardware. Our engineering team has decades of repair, overhaul, design and testing experience in flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, precision gearing and test equipment.
Thomas electrical and mechanical engineers are experienced with design and development in numerous areas of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical systems. Their development efforts have included design-to-specification, product qualification, reverse engineering, test procedures and overhaul processes. The use of 3D modeling helps to integrate engineering, manufacturing and inspection processes
Precision Manufacturing
Thomas Instrument has extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities. These capabilities support both new component production and overhaul services at the component level. Modern state-of-the-art equipment, coupled with our aggressive manufacturing team will provide problem-solving solutions for the most difficult projects.
Thomas Instrument is heavily invested in manufacturing equipment, hardware, and software that provide the necessary tools to assure smooth processing and timely production. Complicated and close tolerance machining operations are performed in-house to meet product requirements.
Thomas Instrument has expanded our manufacturing capability to include Rapid Prototype manufacturing. This newly formed department also supports First Article Test and selected low quantity production requirements.
Thomas Manufacturing is supported by over 30 state-of-the-art production CNC machining centers, three manufacturing locations, seven coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Thomas Instrument is certified to the AS9100B standard.
As a single source supplier, Thomas Instrument has the capability to manufacture individual components, as well as manage the complete manufacturing process for the most complex products, assemblies, and test systems.
Assembly
Thomas Instrument has a dedicated facility set aside for complete assembly of products. Highly trained technicians specialize in performing complete assembly procedures outlined in product technical manuals or per OEM detailed procedures. Thomas Instrument is certified to the AS9100B standard.
Testing
Thomas Instrument performs extensive product testing. The Testing Department is staffed with experienced engineers and technicians trained to develop and perform acceptance/endurance testing according to detailed specifications. Strict adherence to customer requirements are followed to achieve product compliance. All test equipment is calibrated to meet the designated MIL specifications. Thomas Instrument is certified to the AS9100B standard.
Repair and Overhaul
Thomas Instrument specializes in the design, manufacture, and repair/overhaul of precision aircraft actuation systems for the military aircraft industry. These complex products include complete gearbox assemblies, actuator assemblies, ballscrew assemblies, hydraulic and pneumatic motors, positioning computers, clutch & brake assemblies, winches, and hoists. Thomas Instrument provides innovative solutions to the most challenging requirements.
Thomas Instrument has the staff, equipment, experience, and facilities to perform repair and overhaul services on the most demanding aircraft products. Engineering management teams work closely with our skilled technicians ensuring overhaul projects are closely monitored. Controls are in place to insure contract requirements are met and documented. Experienced logistics experts proactively initiate teaming arrangements for parts availability, complementing the in-house manufacturing efforts to assure timely deliveries. These initiatives are aggressively pursued to completion, achieving total customer satisfaction
