VT Halter Marine has lead the development of advanced vessel technology for over two decades. The first high speed crew boat with waterjet propulsion in the U.S. was developed by VT Halter Marine in the 1970's. During the 1990's VT Halter Marine developed new hull forms and vessel configurations for speeds in excess of 70 knots, extreme low wake and smooth rides in rough seas. This new technology is being applied to current projects for fast ferries and high speed patrol boats. The next millennium will see transatlantic freight vessels capable of carrying over 4, 000 tons of cargo at speeds in excess of 70 knots. Fast Ferry speeds will continue to increase, while simultaneously improving passenger comfort and operating costs. High speed military vessels will carry higher payloads with greater speed and range, with low radar and I.R. signatures. VT Halter Marine will be leading the practical commercial application of the latest vessel technology as it has done for three decades.
