Walter Brown Roofing has been serving Howard County and the surrounding areas since 1946. Once World War II ended, this area saw a vast growth due to the returning soldiers, and with this growth came opportunity and a need for Contractors. It was then that a man named Walter Brown, Sr. started the Walter E. Brown & Son Roofing Company, which went on to do much of the original siding and roof work for the large neighborhoods that were being built throughout the county.

At a very early age, Walter Brown, Jr. started working with his father and learning the business from the ground up. Over the next couple of decades, the men worked together to build a company in which they could both be proud of; one based on honesty and good workmanship. Once Walt Sr. retired, the business was then turned over to be owned and operated by Walt Jr. It was around this time that the planned community of Columbia was beginning to take shape. Once again, Walter Brown & Son Roofing was there to provide top quality service.

I began working for Walt, a close family friend, at the age of 14. By this time, Walter E. Brown & Son Roofing was deeply rooted in the community. Over the next several summers, I had the opportunity to learn my trade from a man who truly cared about his work and the people for whom he worked for. After attending college for 2 years, I decided to take a break from school and work for Walt full-time. By this time, I was able to run most of the work on my own and also starting to learn the business aspect of running a company.

As Walt Jr. began preparing for his own retirement, he asked me if I would be interested in taking over the Family Business. I knew right away that this was a great opportunity, and one that I could never pass up. On Jan. 1, 2008, I officially took over full responsibility of Walter Brown Roofing, fully confident that Walt had prepared me for all aspects of the business.

I look forward to carrying on the same tradition of honesty and good workmanship that this company was built upon 65 years ago, and providing our service for the next generation of homeowners.

Walter Brown Roofing offers all roofing services that cover every inch of your roof, as well as providing you with a timely free estimate and an in-home consultation. We specialize in the tear-off and re-roofing of residential and commercial properties which have asphalt/fiberglass shingles. We also install modified bitaman for flat roofs, along with all roof accessories, including Skylights, Attic Fans - both solar and electric, Chimney Caps and Ridge Vents.
